Specimen #04001, 5/15/2001
Size: 11 by 14 inches, 3/4 inch thick slab
Composition: White cement (Winterstone), reinforcing
mesh, copper hanging loops on the back. Impressions made using
a boning knife, hammer, bulldog clip, handcuff key, screwdriver,
screw eye, scalpel blade.
Collection site: Miami, Florida
Comments: Love how this turned out. Just perfect.
I've been searching for the perfect sculpting material, and
this cement is definitely it. The presence of the different
easily recognizable shapes adds a new dimension to the piece...
Sort of a "Where's Wingnut?" approach. Of course the biomechanical
aspects refer back to my insect sculptures.
