Specimen #04001, 5/15/2001

Size: 11 by 14 inches, 3/4 inch thick slab

Composition: White cement (Winterstone), reinforcing mesh, copper hanging loops on the back. Impressions made using a boning knife, hammer, bulldog clip, handcuff key, screwdriver, screw eye, scalpel blade.

Collection site: Miami, Florida

Comments: Love how this turned out. Just perfect. I've been searching for the perfect sculpting material, and this cement is definitely it. The presence of the different easily recognizable shapes adds a new dimension to the piece... Sort of a "Where's Wingnut?" approach. Of course the biomechanical aspects refer back to my insect sculptures.
