A few months ago, I signed
up to adopt Kiki from the shelter, which was good timing since it saved her
from being "put to sleep" the next day. The adoption was going smoothly
-- then I found out I couldn't have a cat at my place right away. Augh!! So,
my friend/boss type person Maya adopted Kiki instead, for a month or so.
Kiki lives with me now
and she's a very happy, healthy lap cat. She follows me everywhere!

Here's Kiki's original
mugshot from the animal shelter webpage. She looks pretty freaked out (gee,
I can't imagine why...) |
|
Kiki lookin' all
relaxed on my bed.

Once she noticed
the camera, she decided to stretch and lick her nose all glamorously!

|
Sleepy, but cute.

She looks just like
a cat food advertisement!

Here's Kiki's self-styled
arch nemesis, Neko. Neko is my mom's cat and she hisses at both me and
Kiki... neither of us understand why... oh well! I think she's just hopelessly
neurotic.
The two cats have
similar coloring, but Neko has stripes while Kiki is tortoiseshell. *I*
think Kiki's cuter with her face markings, cream toes and tailtip... but
of course, my mom thinks Neko's cuter. We're so biased.

Through the miracle
of modern cat treats and a quick camera-trigger finger, I managed to get
these two cats in the same photo for just barely long enough before Kiki
split. Of course, Neko is NOT happy, heh. I don't know why she's so afraid
of this tiny little cat.

Kiki next to a folder,
so you can see how big she is (or isn't). She's 6 pounds right now, about
a year and a half old. Compare that to monster Neko who's at least twice
her size and three times her age... Kiki looks kinda puzzled in this shot.
Awww. :)
