Journal entry for Thursday, June 28, 2001

Today's summary: Proto-bird / archaeopteryx fossil sculpture, cement slab.

Done! It's 18 by 24 inches, at least an inch thick... Reinforced with a powdercoated steel grid. Impressions made using crescent wrenches, socket wrenches, saw blade, hex nut, numbers "4" and "1", Phillips screwdriver, spray paint can. This is my largest fossil sculpture so far.

It's HEAVY, too, about thirty pounds! Awkward to move around... my back hurts, oy vey. The hanging points are quite secure, but I'm not sure how anybody could attach this to a wall, due to the weight. I need to ask my local frame shop. I'm considering offering a glass-topped table as a holder for this. One of my artist friends has an idea about how to hang it on a wall though... I'll interrogate her for details ASAP.
