Journal entry for November 15, 2001Today's summary: Four sculptures shipped to L.A. today! That's four or five, depends whether you count the two bees collectively or not... I still owe the gallery two to four more. Preferably four. The photo links below aren't new... but, I figured I'd supply the link as reference. The first one is an homage to Charlotte A. Cavatica, from Charlotte's
Web. "A. Cavatica" is short for "Aranea cavatica". I added a "u"
in the middle to turn it into a gold pun. E.B. White was born in
Mt. Vernon, NY. Next are of course, my evil killer bees! One of my friends said
(as a joke) that these bees are really a racist reference to black-on-white
crime... since when African bees met European honeybees, bad things
happened... and due to L.A.'s crime rate. That's not quiiiite what
I really had in mind. Socalled "Killer" bees have invaded southern
California in recent years, so this does seem appropriate to the
locale. Next is my reworked purple and gold bug. This one's always been
near and dear to me since it was my first use of niobium wire, my
first use of coils to build body mass, and also because I managed
to save it from ruin. Last is my big rainbow butterfly, with the linoleum blade wings. *sigh* I'll miss them all, but, I also need my razorbugs to go out and infest the world! Muaahahahah!... err, was I laughing maniacally? What I meant to say was, I just want to share my creations with the world. Yeah, that's it. Sure.
