Summary: Making a cement fish fossil sculpture, steps 4-6

Step 4. I measured the tray (11x14) and cut the wire mesh to be one inch smaller (10x13). This will be used for reinforcing later... [sketch]

Step 5. Time to mix up the cement! I used 8 cups Winterstone powder, plus 2 cups water. I had to add more water to make it knead like real putty / clay. Not much extra water though (too much water weakens the final result). (NOTE: I should have made MORE than 8 cups!!)

Step 6. I used squares of Saran Wrap (cellophane) to protect the "U" of the hanging loops, then added a gob of Winterstone to weigh each hanger down against the tray surface.
[sketch] (with cellophane), [sketch] (with cellophane + Winterstone cement)
